Luis David Pérez Gracida
Luis David Pérez Gracida is a biologist and teacher of tropical ecology, specializing in wildlife monitoring, especially mesocarnivores such as the neotropical otter. He has extensive experience in monitoring mammals and birds using direct and indirect techniques, as well as in environmental education and scientific illustration, a discipline he has been practicing for more than seven years.
He has taught numerous courses on wildlife identification and monitoring, neotropical otter ecology, birds, and naturalist illustration, and has participated in national conferences. In 2024, he won The Otters Oscars from The International Otter Survival Fund in the art category. He is the author of guides, children’s books, and scientific publications, as well as a founding member of various birdwatching groups in the High Mountains region.
He is part of the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification team, where he participates in plantation monitoring, plantation design, pre-existing carbon studies, and biodiversity assessments. His work combines science, art, and conservation with the aim of protecting nature and inspiring new generations.
