Gabe Chapin

SCIENCE & MONITORING

Gabe leads Ponterra’s science and monitoring function, including MRV design, carbon quantification, carbon modeling, land suitability, and project monitoring and evaluation. He brings more than 20 years of experience in forest restoration and management, including over a decade leading the design and implementation of nature-based carbon projects in Brazil, Mexico, Panama, and the US.

Before joining Ponterra, Gabe worked in climate tech at Pachama, where he oversaw the Carbon Project Operations and Applied Science teams, managing a portfolio of six reforestation projects across Latin America and the US and building 3rd party carbon project diligence products. He also spent 16 years with The Nature Conservancy, leading ecological restoration initiatives and Improved Forest Management (IFM) carbon projects. He holds an MS in Forestry from Colorado State University and a BS in Forest Biology from the University of Vermont.
